Democrats Serve PAC Endorses Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux’s re-election bid (GA-07)

Highlighting her background as a frontline public service pro, new national organization plans to actively support incumbent House Democrat Carolyn Bourdeaux.

Milford, Conn. (April 18, 2022) — Democrats Serve — a national hybrid political action committee (PAC) that supports Democrats running for office with public service backgrounds — is endorsing incumbent House Democrat Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07) in her re-election bid.

Brett Broesder, the PAC’s executive director, noted that Congresswoman Bourdeaux — a former U.S. Senate policy aide and director of Georgia’s Senate and Budget Evaluation Office — is an excellent example of a Democrat running for office with frontline public service experience who can excel as a candidate and a policymaker.

“Nobody knows public service like Congresswoman Bourdeaux,” said Broesder. “She has a proven track record of fighting for Georgia families and getting results. That’s why we’re thrilled to be supporting her re-election bid.”

Congresswoman Bourdeaux noted that she’s proud to receive Democrats Serve’s endorsement.

“I appreciate Democrats Serve supporting my re-election campaign and the work they have done to highlight the hardworking Democrats who come from public service backgrounds,” said Bourdeaux, “I strive to deliver real results for the people of Georgia’s 7th district every day, which is why I have done over 200 in district events since getting elected.”

Democrats Serve works to support public service candidates, many of whom lack access to national donor networks.

Since launching in May 2021, of the 29 endorsed candidates who have appeared on a ballot so far, every single one has won their election. The organization recently supported Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) and Ruben Ramirez (TX-15) in their respective, and successful, Lone Star State congressional primary bids.

For the 2022 midterms, the PAC has made endorsements nationwide in competitive elections, including: U.S. Senate Candidates: Cheri Beasley (NC), Val Demings (FL), Sarah Godlewski (WI), and Lucas Kunce (MO); U.S. House Candidates: Christina Bohannan (IA-01), Yadira Caraveo (CO-08), Matt Castelli (NY-21), Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), Val Foushee (NC-06), Kara Hahn (NY-1), Kermit Jones (CA-03), Greg Landsman (OH-01), Jonathan Logemann (IL-17), Seth Magaziner (RI-02), Heather Mizeur (MD-01), Ruben Ramirez (TX-15), Karin Norington-Reaves (IL-01), Tony Vargas (NE-2), and Henry Yanez (MI-10); Incumbent House Democrats: Jahana Hayes (CT-05), Andy Kim (NJ-03), Tom Malinowski (NJ-07), Tom O'Halleran (AZ-01), Katie Porter (CA-45), Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11), Abigail Spanberger (VA-07), Elissa Slotkin (MI-08), Lauren Underwood (IL-14), and Susan Wild (PA-07); Gubernatorial Candidate: Katie Hobbs (AZ) and Stacey Abrams (GA); Attorney General Candidate: Aramis Ayala (FL); and State Legislature Candidate: Jon Wizard (CA AD-30).

Broesder also said that the group is making a concerted effort to recruit diverse candidates with public safety and justice system experience.

Democrats Serve’s overall national effort consists of recruiting, training, and supporting Democrats with backgrounds serving communities in government — at the federal, state, and local levels — including teachers, police officers, firefighters, first responders, social workers, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, public health nurses, and more.
