Democrats Serve PAC Endorses Henry Yanez for Congress (MI-10)
Highlighting his background as a frontline public service pro, new national organization plans to actively support Henry Yanez in his congressional bid.
Milford, Conn. (April 5, 2022) — Democrats Serve — a national hybrid political action committee (PAC) that supports Democrats running for office with public service backgrounds — is endorsing Henry Yanez in his run for Congress in Michigan’s 10th District.
Brett Broesder, the PAC’s executive director, noted that Henry Yanez — a former firefighter, state representative, and current city councilman — is an excellent example of a Democrat running for office with frontline public service experience who can excel as a candidate and a policymaker.
“Nobody knows public service like Henry Yanez,” said Broesder. “Whether it’s risking his health and safety to save lives as a firefighter — or fighting for better policies for his community as a state legislator and councilman — Henry has a proven track record of getting things done. That’s why we’re thrilled to be supporting his congressional run.”
Henry Yanez noted that he’s proud to receive Democrats Serve’s endorsement.
"I'm honored to have again received the endorsement of Democrats Serve in my bid for Congress,” said Yanez. “It is a great organization that encourages candidates to run for office with public service backgrounds, including firefighters like myself, judges, prosecutors, teachers, and others who serve their communities."
Democrats Serve works to support public service candidates, many of whom lack access to national donor networks.
Since launching in May 2021, of the 29 endorsed candidates — including Henry Yanez in his run for Sterling Heights City Council — who have appeared on a ballot so far, every single one has won their election. The organization recently supported Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) and Ruben Ramirez (TX-15) in their respective, and successful, Lone Star State congressional primary bids.

Broesder also said that the group is making a concerted effort to recruit diverse candidates with public safety and justice system experience.
Democrats Serve’s overall national effort consists of recruiting, training, and supporting Democrats with backgrounds serving communities in government — at the federal, state, and local levels — including teachers, police officers, firefighters, first responders, social workers, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, public health nurses, and more.
