Milford, Connecticut (April 24, 2022) — Today, Democrats Serve, a national hybrid political action committee (PAC) that helps public service Democrats run for office and win, announced an endorsement of six candidates running in competitive House races in 2023-24.

The six candidates being endorsed by Democrats Serve include:

  • Gabe Amo (RI-01): Former aide to President Biden, President Obama, and Governor Gina Raimondo (D-RI).

  • Yadira Caraveo (CO-08): Former Pediatric Resident at the University of New Mexico.

  • Dave Min (CA-47): Business law professor at the University of California-Irvine, enforcement attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission, and aide to Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

  • Aditya Pai (CA-45): Served in U.S. Senator Mark Warner’s (D-VA) DC Office.

  • Josh Riley (NY-19): Former U.S. Department of Labor policy analyst and counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.

  • Abigail Spanberger (VA-07): Former federal agent with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and case officer with the Central Intelligence Agency.

Brett Broesder, the PAC’s executive director, stated that each candidate’s public service background makes them an excellent example of a Democrat running for office who can excel as a candidate and policymaker.

“For public service pros like those endorsed today, strengthening their communities isn’t just a job; it’s a way of life,” said Broesder. “Their experience as frontline workers gives them first-hand expertise in tackling the toughest challenges our communities face today. That’s why Democrats Serve is proud to officially and actively support their candidacies.”

Endorsees noted that they’re thrilled to receive Democrats Serve’s support.

“My career as a public service pro has provided a true sense of purpose and mission,” said Gabe Amo (RI-01). “And as a native Rhode Islander, I know first-hand the struggle families face in the 1st Congressional District. In Congress, I’ll put my experiences to work for Ocean Staters while fighting for an assault weapons ban, leading the charge for corporate accountability, and beating back attempts to cut Social Security and Medicare benefits.”

"I began my career as a public service pro, holding Wall Street accountable during the financial crisis and protecting families from foreclosure,” said Dave Min (CA-47). “In the State Senate, I have fought for bold and aggressive legislation to improve the lives of my constituents, challenging politics as usual. I'm honored to earn the support of Democrats Serve for my congressional run as they share in my commitment to protect our democracy, strengthen our economy, and beat back right-wing extremism."

“For me, public service isn’t a career; it’s a calling,” said Aditya Pai (CA-45). “As an immigrant who grew up here and still lives in this district, I’ve seen firsthand the struggles that folks throughout our community face every single day. Our community deserves better public service. That’s why I’ll lead the charge in Congress to support small businesses, empower hard-working families, and fight for sane and humane immigration reform.”

"I'm honored to have Democrats Serve’s support," said Josh Riley (NY-19). "We need more public servants and fewer professional politicians in Congress. I'm looking forward to working with Democrats Serve to win this seat."

Democrats Serve’s overall national effort consists of recruiting, training, and supporting Democrats with backgrounds serving communities in government, including educators, police officers, firefighters, first responders, social workers, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, public health nurses, and more.
