Highlighting his public service background, the national organization plans to actively support Karthik Soora in his 2024 election.

Washington DC. (February 20, 2024) – Today, Democrats Serve, a national organization supporting Democrats with public service backgrounds, announced the endorsement of Karthik’s state senate bid in Texas’ 15th District.

Democrats Serve’s executive director, Brett Broesder, stated that Soora’s public service experience, serving in Houston Mayor Turner’s administration as part of the Mayor’s Office on Resilience and Sustainability and as a former high school chemistry teacher, makes him an excellent example of someone who can excel as a candidate and policymaker.

"Public service isn't just a job for Karthik Soora; it's his way of life," said Broesder.

Karthik Soora noted that he’s thrilled to receive Democrats Serve’s support.

“I am running to serve Texans who have been starved of real leadership for far too long,” said Soora. 

Senator John Whitmire resigned from this seat in December 2023 to take office as Houston Mayor leaving this seat open. Texas 15th Senate District serves a portion of Harris county.
