Democrats Serve Endorses Logemann (IL-17)
Highlighting his background as a frontline public service pro, new national organization plans to actively support Jonathan Logemann in Illinois’ 17th district.
Milford, Conn. (December 9, 2021) – Today, Democrats Serve PAC — a national hybrid political action committee (PAC) that supports Democrats running for office with public service backgrounds — is announcing an endorsement for Jonathan Logemann in his run for Illinois’ 17th Congressional District seat.
Brett Broesder, the PAC’s executive director, noted that Jonathan Logemann — a teacher, veteran, and alderman — is well-equipped to excel as a candidate and policymaker.
“Nobody cares more about serving their community than Jonathan Logemann,” said Broesder. “As a public high school teacher, he’s committed to preparing our kids for tomorrow’s jobs. He protects in-district taxpayers as an elected alderman. And, he’s safeguarded our democracy while serving in Afghanistan. Jonathan Logemann’s public service experiences uniquely position him to tackle the toughest challenges our communities face today. That’s why we’re supporting him.”
In accepting the endorsement from Democrats Serve, Jonathan Logemann stated that he’ll be a passionate voice for public servants in Congress.
“I’m grateful and humbled as momentum continues to generate,” said Logemann. “Now more than ever, our country needs mission-driven servant leaders to tackle our big challenges - growing our economy and creating jobs, lowering the costs of living, investing in education, and protecting our freedoms and democracy. That’s the kind of representative I intend to be.”
Democrats Serve works to support public service candidates, who often lack access to the wealthy donor networks that non-working class candidates do.
Broesder added: “At Democrats Serve — with an aim of helping to ensure he has the support and resources necessary to win the Primary and General Elections — we’re proud to endorse Jonathan Logmann’s candidacy.”
After launching in May, the organization endorsed 27 candidates nationwide who were running for state and local office in 2021. Every single candidate endorsed by the group won their respective elections.
For 2022, the PAC has made endorsements nationwide in competitive elections, including: U.S. Senate Candidates Cheri Beasley (NC), Val Demings (FL), Sarah Godlewski (WI); U.S. House Candidates Aramis Ayala (FL-10), Christina Bohannan (IA-01), Matt Castelli (NY-21), Ruben Ramirez (TX-15), Tony Vargas (NE-2); Incumbent House DemocratsCarolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07), Jahana Hayes (CT-05), Andy Kim (NJ-03), Tom O'Halleran (AZ-01), Tom Malinowski (NJ-07), Katie Porter (CA-45), Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11), Elissa Slotkin (MI-08), Abigail Spanberger (VA-07), Susan Wild (PA-07), Lauren Underwood (IL-14); and Gubernatorial Candidate Katie Hobbs (AZ).
Democrats Serve’s overall national effort consists of recruiting, training, and supporting Democrats with backgrounds serving communities in government — at the federal, state, and local levels — including teachers, police officers, firefighters, first responders, social workers, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, public health nurses, and more.
