Democrats Serve PAC Endorses Lucas Kunce (MO SEN)

Highlighting his background as a frontline public service pro, new national organization plans to actively support Lucas Kunce in his U.S. Senate bid.

Milford, Conn. (April 5, 2022) — Democrats Serve — a national hybrid political action committee (PAC) that supports Democrats running for office with public service backgrounds — is endorsing Lucas Kunce for U.S. Senate in Missouri.

Brett Broesder, the PAC’s executive director, noted that Lucas Kunce — a former Marine officer who did tours of duty in Iraq, Afghanistan, and as an international negotiator with the Joint Staff at the Pentagon, and as Deputy General Counsel for the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) at the Department of Defense (DOD) — is an excellent example of a Democrat running for office with frontline public service experience who can excel as a candidate and a policymaker.

“Nobody knows public service like Lucas Kunce,” said Broesder. “Whether it’s protecting our safety and security at home — or safeguarding our freedom abroad — Lucas has a proven track record of getting things done. That’s why we’re thrilled to be supporting his U.S. Senate run.”

Lucas Kunce noted that he’s proud to receive Democrats Serve’s endorsement.

“Service is about patriotism,” said Kunce. “None of us joined the Marines to get rich. For me, I joined to try and pay back the people in my community who took care of our family when we were bankrupted after my sister's heart surgeries. The people who brought food by the house and took us kids in when my parents spent weeks in the hospital. That's who I'm running for. The people just like my old neighbors across Missouri who have been left behind by political elites in both parties. I’m proud to have Democrats Serve in this fight with me.”

Democrats Serve works to support public service candidates, many of whom lack access to national donor networks.

Since launching in May 2021, of the 29 endorsed candidates who have appeared on a ballot so far, every single one has won their election. The organization recently supported Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) and Ruben Ramirez (TX-15) in their respective, and successful, Lone Star State congressional primary bids.

For the 2022 midterms, the PAC has made endorsements nationwide in competitive elections, including: U.S. Senate Candidates: Cheri Beasley (NC), Val Demings (FL), and Sarah Godlewski (WI); U.S. House Candidates: Christina Bohannan (IA-01), Yadira Caraveo (CO-08), Matt Castelli (NY-21), Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), Val Foushee (NC-06), Kara Hahn (NY-1), Kermit Jones (CA-03), Greg Landsman (OH-01), Jonathan Logemann (IL-17), Seth Magaziner (RI-02), Heather Mizeur (MD-01), Ruben Ramirez (TX-15), Karin Norington-Reaves (IL-01), Henry Yanez (MI-10), and Tony Vargas (NE-2); Incumbent House Democrats: Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07), Jahana Hayes (CT-05), Andy Kim (NJ-03), Tom Malinowski (NJ-07), Tom O'Halleran (AZ-01), Katie Porter (CA-45), Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11), Abigail Spanberger (VA-07), Elissa Slotkin (MI-08), Lauren Underwood (IL-14), and Susan Wild (PA-07); Gubernatorial Candidate: Katie Hobbs (AZ) and Stacey Abrams (GA); Attorney General Candidate: Aramis Ayala (FL); and State Legislature: Jon Wizard (CA AD-30).

Broesder also said that the group is making a concerted effort to recruit diverse candidates with public safety and justice system experience.

Democrats Serve’s overall national effort consists of recruiting, training, and supporting Democrats with backgrounds serving communities in government — at the federal, state, and local levels — including teachers, police officers, firefighters, first responders, social workers, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, public health nurses, and more.
